Who we are
The Broken Gun is a one-person gunsmith shop owned and operated by Mike in Mesa, Arizona. We provide firearm cleaning, repair, custom work, FFL transfers, and sell branded merchandise online.
Information we collect
- Contact form: name, email, phone number (optional), the service you're asking about, and the details you write in the message.
- In-shop and FFL transfers: government-issued ID and any information required by federal or Arizona law to complete a lawful transfer (ATF Form 4473, bound book entries). This information is kept for the retention period required by law.
- Merchandise orders: shipping address, contact info, and order details you enter at checkout. Payments and order fulfillment for merch are handled by Shopify — we never see or store your full card number.
How we use it
- To reply to your inquiry, quote a job, or schedule work on your firearm.
- To fulfill and ship merchandise orders.
- To meet federal and Arizona recordkeeping obligations for firearm transfers.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not send marketing email without your consent.
Who we share it with
We only share information with the third parties needed to run the business:
- FormSubmit — delivers contact-form submissions from the website to our email inbox.
- Shopify — hosts our online store, processes payments, and stores order records.
- Shipping carriers (e.g. USPS, UPS) — for delivering merchandise or returning firearms.
- Law enforcement or government agencies — only when required by law or a valid legal request (for example, ATF trace requests).
Cookies and analytics
Our merch checkout is powered by Shopify, which uses its own cookies to keep your cart working and to process payments. Beyond that, this website does not run advertising trackers.
How we protect it
Paper records (like 4473 forms) are stored securely at the shop as required by ATF regulations. Digital records live in the vendor accounts listed above (Shopify, our email provider) and are protected by strong passwords and account-level security.
How long we keep it
- Contact-form emails: kept as long as needed to answer you, then deleted on request.
- Merchandise order records: retained by Shopify for the life of the account.
- Firearm transfer records (4473, bound book): kept for the period required by federal law.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you — except records we are required by law to keep (such as 4473 forms). Email thebrokengun4@gmail.com or call/text 602-908-9514 and we'll take care of it.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and change the effective date at the top. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
